maybe i laughed too much during dinner just now and my brain got de-oxygenated. my brain was totally in its nothing box even with my journal papers plastered in front of my face. without realising a thing, i typed 'persis overture youtube' on google chrome and played the very first video on the search result.

the first note made my heart skip a beat. suddenly i imagined myself in the old band room, having a full band practice. the running notes sent chills down my spine because any mistake would mean addition 1 hour of practice. i anticipated the basses for their upbeats and felt a sense of relieve when they entered at the correct timing. my attention was turned towards shihua the minute the pace slowed for the oboe solo. we were transported to the benches outside our classroom. i remembered tears and her shaking while learning the solo during sectionals. and i asked her if she can play the solo for my wedding (i have no idea why! its not exactly that romantic.)

at about 7:20 into the song, the entire scene changed to a concert hall. uncontrollable emotions overwhelmed me. maybe because our band performances always reached climax at this point, or maybe because we had played this song for our seniors farewell, as well as our own farewell, or maybe because we were just glad that we made it through the entire song (or performance) without any glitches. and guess what, it was so intense that i held my breathe during the momentary pause before the last few notes.

persis overture was written with a very beautiful story behind it (go google!). but to me (and hopefully the band), it summarises the entire bittlesweet memories of four torturous yet happy years in band. even blue shades doesn't have the impact! gosh. i miss band soooooo much.

ex-bandmates aka current buddies, take some time off your tiring and stressful work/study to listen to it! feel the magic of persis as it brings you back to our innocent swiss winds time. this is a privilege only for band members! =)

ps: i miss our version of amazing grace with saxophone solo. melvyn, can you give me a little hint on the keywords to google for that version?

SOP for doing push ups!

today, i came home with the resolution to do 20 push ups a day so that i can go back in krabi to climb one year later. i tried. and decided to reduce the number to 5 push ups a day. i tried again. and decided to do 5 push ups with knees on the floor instead. depressed, i went to seek advice from my 'future-brother-in-law-in-lala-land' and realise he got what it takes to write a damn good SOP! (btw, SOP = standard operating procedures)

pushups, i bet she can do

if she cant do normal ground pushups

she with incline pushups

tht means

instead of having both your feet and hands on the ground

your hands on a higher ground

say your sofa

then your leg still on the floor

its easier to do

once she got the strenght to do like 20

in a go

then she can strt pushups

then tell her

quality is more impt than quantity

pple tend to "anyhow" do when they get tired

if she cant do standard ones anymore, ask her to stop

no pt forcing herself to do when her position is not right

then.... just as impt, keep her back straight at all times

pple's back tend to arch when they are tired

yup, you heard right. i am trying my luck here because i am so confuse if i should shave my hair (typical libra), so i hope you guys can help me out in this. *bang bang chest point at you*

i will shave my hair if i can gather at least SGD10,000 worth of donations. you don't have to donate now. just pledge. when the total sum hits $10,000, i will shave and collect the donations from you guys. the date will be 23/24 July 2011.

this logic was fully understood after seeing how ugly this world can be with an empty stomach! a hungry yanxin is indeed an angry yanxin. (haha.) every little thing irritated me to the max! stuff like: 'the ah beng in front of me is too skinny', 'mcsoulmate made me guilty (for 2 seconds) for forgetting to confirm the dinner (he didn't reply me lo)', 'my dear rockers refuse to reply me on whether they are free on thursday', 'the auntie beside wears a ugly rubber slipper with jeans', 'some inconsiderate guy brought kfc onboard the bus (smell so nice~)', 'stupid textbook didn't tell me if my research is pool boiling or flow boiling', 'how can 858 comes before 903?', etc etc. see! so many things for me to be irritated about in just the one hour ride home. even the fact that i solved the interface temperature (after 2 days) and put tim lopaz on repeat for my mp3 does not help! it totally felt like watching spongebob when the screen can't display yellow *sobs*

until.. i see my ultimate savior, FOOD! *grins* the minute i put jenny ma's famous bake beans + egg into my mouth, my life becomes HD LED display! (not 3D TV 'cause i will get giddy watching that). the world suddenly becomes perfect (like it usually is). now i understand why are there depressed, emo and hot temper people around. they must be feeling hungry!

ps: even though my life is back to perfect, i still hate the fact that my school is 1.5 hr away from my home! now i have to predict if i am going to be hungry 1.5 hr later. &$%*#$@^*&

its finally over! glad that the oppositions managed to get a few more seats in parliament. the entire election has been an eye-opener to me! rallied for the first time. cheering and jeering like nobody's business. not forgetting to mention, listening dr vincent's speech at the rally. *grins*

on a sad note, poor mr chiam see tong has left our parliament for a 5 year break. the younger generation and those who had stayed in PAP's constituency for their entire life (aka me, and the majority of singapore) would never understand the chiam spirit. but seeing how the potong pasir people saluted chiam, cried for chiam and petitioned for chiam, i hereby declare it true love. and only a true singapore hero deserve this true love.

goodbye for now mr chiam, please take care of your health and let the PAP build a proper town council for you. we await your return five years later and kick that ~~wong cant sing~~ wong kan seng out of the parliament!

on an angry note, the empty tin is officially in parliament. not that it is unexpected. just that it is kindda difficult for me (and the rest of singapore) to swallow this hard truth. anyway, sm ~~god~~ goh has spoken. she is here to stay, at least for the next five year with three years being an 'intern'. oh wells. at least empty tin is a phenomenal that brings bullying to national level. while i hated and stood against bullies for the past 20 years of my life, this time round, im going to say in unison with them, "she deserve it!" anyway, since we can't fight them, we should just join them. i am so going to google for the application for internship for member of parliament. the internship allowance is definitely worth postponing my phd studies!

on a happier note, this election has been a fulfilling one. it saw the birth of our true singapore idol. yup, he is our dearest yam ah mee. note that the initials are the same as the surname. his parents are brilliant! i am going to do the same to my future children too. he had captured the heart of all singaporeans with his endearing rendition of "pursuant to section 49, sub-section 70, paragraph A of the parliament act, the local votes counted are conclusive of the result, i hereby declare ........ " 26 times without any change in tone and speed! he makes a very good metronome. but before that, i would prefer him to be our singapore idol!

a long time ago, a friend told me that girls should look for boyfriends who are 12-15cm taller so that kissing wouldn't be so awkward. not sure if she did any studies to come out with the figures... BUT! she forgot to consider another important factor. holding hands! yesh! the time a couple hold hands is much longer than they kiss. holding hands is definitely a topic of bigger importance and implications for a relationship! i had avoided the topic of holding hands for many years. the whole world seems to be laughing at me when i insisted that holding hands is super tiring! *humph!* BUT! the whole world disagreeing with me doesn't mean that i am not going to hold on to my belief, especially when my belief is backed with facts.

taking moments about the elbow,

due to the height difference, the arm of the shorter person (aka my arm) has to be bended at an angle, which means, there will be a moment about the elbow due to the weight of forearm. because of this moment, the muscle in the forearm would have to exert a force. i have yet to collect enough data to quantify the force. but imaging holding hands for 15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour, the energy used can accumulate to a hefty amount. hence i was right to say holding hands is tiring!

i am still in the process of collecting more data to find the optimum height of boyfriend so that holding hands wouldn't be so tiring. till then, we shall continue to do trial and error! *grins*

a year older, and a year wiser~

i spent many 'beautiful' nights in NTU doing my FYP (not to mention those late night hiking trips with Mr-Love-to-Walk)
